Dayton Fountain of Lights

At 200-feet high and 800-feet wide, the Five Rivers Fountain of Lights is reportedly one of the largest fountains in the world!  Today, RiverScape MetroPark is an impressive and beautiful addition to Dayton’s skyline.  Capturing this image took many trips in order to capture the fountain spray at sunset while light clouds occupied the Miami Valley skies but not so many that blocks the light.   Fortunately, on this evening, clear air between the setting sun and Riverscape MetroPark allowed the sun to illuminate the fountain’s spray amazing orange colors.

Today, it’s an impressive and beautiful addition to Dayton’s skyline. I’ve made many trips to this point (maybe too many) only to realize a distant cloud had blocked the setting sun’s warm colors, resulting in a scene with dull blue and grey tones. Although clouds on the horizon seemed poised to mute this sunset’s colors once again, a break in the clouds aligned between the sun and the fountain’s spray allowing the sunlight to paint the spray in amazing crimson colors.
