Butler County Ohio Bicentennial Barn
The Story: Ohio became the 17th state in the union in 1803. As the Buckeye State’s 200th anniversary approached, the Ohio Bicentennial Commission chose to use 88 barns (1 in each county) as nostalgic billboards announcing the celebration. To be selected, the barns had to be in good condition and along well-traveled roads. After narrowing the list down from 2,000 barns, in 1997, the state hired Scott Hagan to paint each barn. On this spring day, the Butler County Ohio Bicentennial Barn sits under blue skies just north of Darrtown, Ohio.
