Garden of the Gods is a public park and a National Natural Landmark which lies west of Colorado Springs. The deep red sandstones ae part of the Lyons formation and were deposited horizontally before the uplifting force of the Rocky Mountains turned these sandstone layers on edge creating stunning geologic features and amazing vistas.
