In the 1850s, the area became Lewistown Reservoir which fed the Miami and Erie Canal. As the canals faded from use, the area next served as a destination resort and amusement park. Today the quieter area hosts many retirement homes and, on this evening, offered stunning skies as the setting sun illuminated overcast but clearing skies.
Indian Lake State Park was one know as Lewistown Reservoir and is fed by the Great Miami River. The lake is the second largest inland lake in Ohio and served as a feeder to the Miami and Erie Canal.
