Brown-eyed Susan Super Bloom, Morris Reserve No. 3

In 2019, Morris Reserve, near Bellbrook Ohio, enjoyed a superbloom of Black-eyed Susans. Superblooms form when perfect conditions drive an overly high proportion of one species’ seeds to blossom. To this end, the Spring of 2019 was defined as one of the wettest seasons on record with the adjacent Little Miami River flooding its banks many times. In this image, the bloom was coming to an end as drier July weather took hold over the Miami Valley.
